Looks like we have a trend. CBS is putting episodes of old and new shows online including Star Trek, Survivor, CSI, Melrose Place, The Twilight Zone, Hawaii Five-O, and MacGyver. With partners including AOL, MSN, Comcast and CNET, CBS will deliver full-length episodes to over 300 sites in its network, and will add shows in the future.
CBS’ network includes video upstarts like Joost and Veoh.
Frank Rose wrote in the new issue of Wired about why it’s taken so long for video content to come to the Internet, focusing on movies and the DRM issues that have held things back. But what I think really needs to happen still is a better way for mainstream users — not techies — to get Internet video on their living room screens. The gadgets that have come out so far are still not “mom & dad accessible.”
